Frequently Asked Questions Here are many of the questions typically asked by prospective clients about our copywriting services. If you don't see the answer to your question, contact us, and we will be happy to respond. With your permission, we may also post your question and our answer here. How much do you charge for your copywriting and editing services? Our rates depend upon the length of the work and the type of service you require. If you are looking for website content, print copy, or ebook content, our rates are typically between $20 and $25 USD per 500-word page, depending on the amount of research involved. Sales copy typically costs $150-300 per page, due to the time required to craft content that uniquely promotes your products or services. Editing services are $5 to $10 per page, and transcription from MP3, CD or DVD runs between $3 and $4 per minute of audio or video, depending on the quality of the recording. Can't I obtain copywriting and editing more cheaply overseas? Yes, you probably can. If cost is your primary concern, this may be your best option. However, keep in mind that your business is your livelihood, and an excellent team of writers can provide the print copy, web content, and information products you need to make your business thrive. Java Joint Media can provide:
Do you require an up-front fee before committing to a project? Yes. We require 50% of the agreed-upon fee before taking on a copywriting or editing project. This policy ensures that our clients are committed to the project, and allows us to deliver superior results. In some circumstances, we may require a larger deposit. How long does it take you to complete a project? Again, this depends on the nature of the product itself. A short ebook can be completed in a week or two; a full-length book may take as long as three months. Some copywriters pride themselves on turning projects around very quickly, but we prefer to concentrate on providing exceptional content that exceeds your expectations. Of course, if you have a project with a tight completion timeframe, just let us know before the project begins, and we may be able to accommodate an accelerated schedule. Do you have any samples of previous works on your website? Java Joint Media recognizes that content for individual clients contain information that is proprietary, and many clients do not wish for purchased content to become part of the public domain. We do not wish to compromise the competitive position of any client we work with. As such, we do not include samples on our website. We do understand that you may wish to review samples of our previous work before deciding to hire Java Joint Media to provide copywriting or editing services for your project. We have obtained approval from several clients to email portions of previous content to prospective clients. If you would like to see copywriting samples, please fill out our contact form , and we will be happy to provide them. How can I be sure that I am not receiving recycled content? Java Joint Media does not reuse content or plagiarize other sites or materials. We use Copyscape to ensure that we have not inadvertently created copy which is similar to existing content. We recommend that you use Copyscape or another anti-plagiarism product to make sure that any copywriter you hire is not providing you with plagiarized content. Where did the name "Java Joint Media" come from, anyway? When Carla and Lee began copywriting, they named their company "Rowley Premium Content Services". It took little time to discover that it sounded awkward and stuffy, it made for a very long website URL, and it sounded terrible on a voicemail greeting. Thus, the search began for a new name. One late night, while Lee and Carla were typing away, Lee noticed the twin steaming cups of coffee against the dark brown office walls, and exclaimed, "This place looks like a java joint!" Java Joint Media was born, and a new voicemail greeting was hastily recorded.
